Cue the comeback montage
I know it’s been a while, but I promise I haven’t ghosted you on purpose.
It’s been a minute (or 8 months.. let’s not split hairs).
We had a good few months of interview requests, calls for pitches, and a few media tips, but it’s been quiet around here lately. And not because I planned it that way.
At the end of last year, a big wave of restructuring swept through many of the outlets I’d been writing for. Some folded completely. Others froze freelance budgets or let go of long-time editors.
In just a few months, I lost nearly all of my steady writing gigs. It felt like the rug got pulled out from under me, and I’ll be honest. I was freaking out getting a little concerned.
But in that quiet space, some really good things started to take root.
I had the chance to work with Wild Plant on a campaign that turned out to be one of the most creatively fulfilling projects I’ve done in a while. I got to develop recipes and videos, create content for them to pitch to the media, host a sampling event in NYC, and support a food and brand that’s accessible and healthy(my personal favorite pair).
I also finally had the breathing room to work on a product I’ve been dreaming up for a while: The Stress-Free Kitchen Toolkit. It’s been a labor of love over the past few months with 20+ balanced, simple recipes, meal plans, cheat sheets, and guides to help busy, overwhelmed folks (especially burnt-out moms) make nourishing meals without the stress. I’m just putting the final touches on it and am waaay too excited to be able to launch it into the world soon.
And while it seemed like freelance was a closed door for a while, I’m happy to say I’m picking up steam again. I’ve connected with new editors, started writing for a few fresh outlets, and I’m slowly but surely filling up my calendar again. It feels good to be back.
So, what does that mean for you?
It means you’ll start to see expert interview requests, potential calls for pitches, and nutrition communication musings and conversations because you guys get it.. my IRL crowd? I don’t think they actually know what I do. “She’s a dietitian.. on the computer”
Anywho— looking forward to connecting. Thanks for sticking around!
Don’t be shy! Whether you're a dietitian with media questions, a business owner who wants to vent about how tax season somehow always sneaks up and smacks us in the face, or a brand or PR pro curious about how we can navigate this changing media landscape together, I’d love to hear from you. Just hit reply and say hi!
